The inaugural SA Child Health Priorities Conference
(SACHPC), like the Perinatal Priorities conferences, will
focus on research and current evidence which informs child
health priorities in South Africa. The programme will include
plenaries and abstract driven sessions on:
Child survival in South Africa
Improving the care of children in hospitals
Equitable delivery and training for child health services
Identifying vulnerable children
Two Round Tables will be hosted:
A Maternal and Child Health Round Table will consider the
critical relationship between maternal health and the wellbeing
of children throughout their early lives - not just their
immediate birth and early survival. Discussions will review
methods of strengthening and integrating maternal and child
health services through better coordination and planning.
A Children’s sector plan of SANAC (SA National AIDS
Council) Round Table will discuss how child health targets
of the SA National Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS might be
reached.
In addition, there will be a case study on Where next with
Child Survival in SA: a case study on PMTCT.
A concluding session will focus on the future of the SACHPC.
A draft constitution will be presented that will address the
nature and focus of the conference in years to come, the
organisation and financing of meetings, and membership
of a South African Child Health Priorities Network. |
